Bringing Faith to Life

“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason
for the hope that you have.”
1 Peter 3:15

Through regular Sunday school classes and  special events, we strive to study the Bible
and to develop a spiritual and personal faith that can maintain hope, enliven love, instill
enthusiasm; provide a Christian framework for facing difficult questions; and sustain
courage in the face of life’s mature realities.

Discovery Class is a Sunday School class that meets in the Adult Study/Choir Room
during the Sunday School hour. It has a rotation of teachers from the class, and focuses
it studies on the Uniform Lesson Series. The series is a rotation of Scriptures that follow
themes in both the Old and New Testaments throughout the year. Newcomers are
always welcome to the class, which starts at 9:45am and ends at 10:40am.

ForeWord Class is another Sunday School class for the members, friends and
newcomers to MorningStar. It meets in the Pastor’s Study is moderated by the pastor.
Each week the class reviews the biblical texts that are being used in the sermon, which
usually encompass the Common Lectionary texts for the week. The sermon texts serve
as a jumping off point for engaging discussion. The class is designed for those who have
studied the scriptures for many years, as well as those who have little knowledge of the
Bible. All are welcome and encourage. The class begins at 9:45am and ends at 10:40am.

Lenten Studies are offered as a group Biblical preparation for Easter. This year, in
2010, the pastor will be leading discussion on the New Testament Letter to the
Romans. It will be a “brown bag supper” event, in which participants are encouraged to
bring a sack lunch and drink to the class. Each Wednesday night, after Ash Wednesday
until Easter, the class will meet at MSPC from 6:00 to 7:00pm. The dates again are:
February 24th through March 31st. The class invites those who have studied the
scriptures for many years, as well as those who have little knowledge of the Bible.

DISCIPLE is tentatively being offered again for the Fall of 2010, with the specific
dates yet to be announced. This class is an intensive, yet highly rewarding effort, which
entails reading most of the Old and New Testaments over a 34 week period. With daily
readings and a 2 and a half hour group session each week, a solid encounter with the
Bible is assured. Breaks for Christmas and Easter are included in the 36 week overall
schedule. Keep checking this website and newsletter information for the latest in plans
and registration.
