Local and Global
MorningStar supports several outreach opportunities within our walls. We have a
preschool program providing Christ-based day care and learning for forty+
children each school year. Our facilities are used by Daisy and Brownie scout
troops which are open to children from inside and outside the congregation. Our
youth programs always have a mission focus as part of their program. While having
lots of fun, our youth participate in activities such as Crop Walk, Souper Bowl of
Caring, monthly collections for Second Harvest food bank and assisting with the
Room In The Inn project. Members contribute dozens of shoe boxes filled with
requested items and volunteers at the processing center for Operation Christmas
Child. Samaritans Purse distributes the boxes to needy children around the world
at Christmas.
There are various "hands on" projects available for congregation participation.
Members regularly participate in the Room In The Inn and Samaritan House
programs which aid the homeless in our area. Blood drives are held. Intermittently,
MorningStar has adopted an Angel Tree family providing year round support to
get them back on their feet and provided programs for Blessed Assurance Adult
Day Care Center.
A portion of our overall church budget is pledged to support the general mission of
the Charlotte Presbytery and the Presbyterian Church USA. These ministries
develop churches, provide meals, and help our members to build powerful
relationships with their brothers and sisters in Christ around the globe.

Almost every fundraising project at MorningStar tithes a
portion of the receipts for mission support. For example,
our mortgage retirement campaign is providing significant
funding for Heiffer International to purchase animals and
training for poor third world communities to become more
self sufficient and funds from our annual, community-wide
"Medieval Feast of Courtly Love" presented at Valentine's
Day will be sent for Haiti relief this year.
